My core has always been in digital marketing but I was eager to join WeAreDevelopers Conference 2017 in Marx Halle, Vienna, Austria organized from May 11 to 12 to get a fresh view of the “other side” of online work—with the developers. It was a delight to be a part of the largest developers gathering in Europe with 3,000+ attendees all driven and enthusiastic to enhance their craft.
The venue is full packed on every session with a long line for coffee(!) but it was an amazing experience to be at the Vienna crowd and to be able to listen to industry experts.
“In the third year of the conference, we are taking WeAreDevelopers to the next level by inviting some of the world’s most renowned pioneers in Web and software development. Our aim is to strengthen the growing community of developers and IT specialists sustainably, and give them an opportunity to connect with their peers,” says Benjamin Ruschin, Managing Director and Co-Founder.
A special focus of WeAreDevelopers is to support women in the IT industry by making them more visible and actively supporting their interests,” Ruschin added.
This year, well-known speakers took the stage like Joel Spolsky (CEO Stack Overflow), Hakon Wium Lie (Inventor of CSS/CTO Opera Software), Rasmus Lerdorf (Inventor of PHP), Ire Aderinokum (Head of Technology, Big Cabal), Sanja Bonic (Head of Analytics, epunkt) and Peter Sunde (Co-Founder of Flattr and The Pirate Bay), addressing a wide array of topics, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) as well as solutions, chances and challenges around the topic of big data.
“With Joel Spolsky and Rasmus Lerdorf we’ve won extraordinarily inspiring influencers in the global developers’ community. Christian Kaar from Runtastic, Felix Krause, who sold his company Fastlane to Twitter, and Nik Graf from Serverless will demonstrate the conference participants how ideas born in Austria can be brought to global success. The conference program will be rounded up with three stages, multiple expert sessions and interactive workshops, coding competitions and an expo that includes a Virtual & Augmented Reality Zone, a Robotics Zone, a Recruiting Zone, a Startup Zone as well as an Executive Education Track,“ explains Sead Ahmetović, Managing Director and Founder.
To be able to fully understand what we do and survive an industry that requires an eternal learning, we need to dive deep into all spectrums of our work so that we are readier and more equipped to undergo changes and implement better decisions. Seeing things from various perspectives on behalf of our clients and making important step one code at a time.
